BURDEN OF LIFE – 'The Makeshift Conqueror'

Burden Of Life is a German band playing music from the genre of Melodic Death metal, although for me, after listening to their latest album, I think that you can boldly add them to the representatives of progressive and avant-garde metal. I invite you to my review of their latest album.
Somehow I'm not too big a fan of the Melodic death metal genre, but when a given band plays very interesting and well, such as Insomnium, Wintersun, or Be'lakor (which also represent the style of Melodic death metal), of course, it is not for me. it bothers to adore and be a big fan of the music of these musical groups. In the case of Burden Of Life, which I am reviewing today, their music, unfortunately, did not captivate me too much and did not delight me. Of course, this does not mean that the band plays badly, the musicians on this album play at a very high artistic level, there are interesting inserts, transitions, and the use of instruments in various ways. My point is that the sound of this album is not to my liking, it is too modern for me, and as you know, I am a fan of the old metal music from the 80s and 90s. Additionally, on this album "The Makeshift Conqueror" in my opinion there is too much chaos in music (of course I also like music in which there is musical chaos, but there are bands and artists who can make this chaos be orderly and listen to it well. I think that such a thing allows you to achieve great talent and imagination in composing and arranging structures and fragments of motifs in a given piece of music in turn) In the case of Burden Of Life, while listening to their album, unfortunately, I felt an excess of form over content. The really cool thing is that the musicians don't limit themselves to music, and as with this album, we have songs where we listen to sharp or melodic riffs with an interesting percussion section, and after a second, rattles and music like from Brazil come in. This is all good and I am yes, but in my opinion, this release is full of this mix and mixing of these different genres of music, so that not everything fits perfectly together. The singer's clear voice certainly deserves a plus on this album - a very interesting and original timbre. A good recording of guitars and drums, the atmospheric inserts played on the acoustic guitar are also great. The only song that I remember from this material is a song called - "The Makeshift Conqueror Pt. 2 '' in which there is a really interesting outro of this composition as well as the whole piece has a specific atmosphere.
To sum up, the above album did not suit my musical tastes, but as you know everyone has different ones. The fact that I did not like this album too much does not mean that the band plays badly, it is an auditory release, on the contrary, I think that fans of bands such as Children Of Bodom, Kalmah, or Insomnium who like modern metal sound will be delighted with this album. I recommend it because it has some really interesting musical themes and solutions.

Burden Of Life to pochodzący z Niemiec zespoł grający muzykę z gatunku Melodic Death metalu, chociaż jak dla mnie po wysłuchaniu ich najnowszej płyty uważam, że śmiało można ich dodać także do reprezentantów progresywnego i awangardowego metalu. Zapraszam do mojej recenzji ich najnowszego krążka.
Fanem gatunku Melodic death metalu jakoś zbyt dużym nie jestem, ale gdy dany zespół gra bardzo ciekawie i dobrze, tak jak np. Insomnium, Wintersun czy Be’lakor (które to zespoły również reprezentują styl Melodic death metalu) to oczywiście w niczym mi to nie przeszkadza by uwielbiać i być wielkim fanem muzyki tych grup muzycznych. W przypadku zespołu Burden Of Life, którego dziś recenzuję to ich muzyka niestety nie porwała mnie zbytnio i nie zachwyciła. Oczywiście nie oznacza to, że zespół gra źle, muzycy na tej płycie grają na bardzo wysokim poziomie artystycznym, są ciekawe wstawki, przejścia i wykorzystanie instrumentów na różne sposoby. Chodzi mi raczej o to, że po prostu brzmienie tej płyty nie jest pod moje gusta, jak dla mnie jest zbyt nowoczesne, a jak wiadomo już jestem fanem starego brzmienia muzyki metalowej z lat 80 i 90. Dodatkowo na tym albumie „The Makeshift Conqueror” jest według mnie zbyt duży chaos muzyczny (oczywiście lubię także muzykę w której właśnie jest chaos muzyczny, ale są takie zespoły i artyści którzy umieją zrobić aby ten chaos był uporządkowany i dało się go dobrze słuchać. Uważam, że takie coś pozwala osiągnąć duży talent i wyobraźnia w komponowaniu i układaniu po kolei struktur i fragmentów motywów w danym utworze muzycznym) W przypadku Burden Of Life podczas odsłuchiwania ich albumu wyczułem niestety przerost formy nad treścią. Naprawdę fajną rzeczą jest to, że muzycy nie ograniczają się w muzyce, i tak jak w przypadku tego krążka mamy utwory gdzie słuchamy ostrych lub melodycznych riffów z ciekawą sekcją perkusyjną, a za chwilę po sekundzie wchodzą grzechotki i muzyka jakby z Brazylii. To wszystko jest dobre i jestem na tak, ale na tym wydawnictwie jest według mnie przesyt tego mixu i wymieszania tych różnych gatunków muzyki, przez co nie wszystko się idealnie łączy w całość. Na plus na pewno zasługuję na tym albumie czysty głos wokalisty – bardzo ciekawa i oryginalna barwa. Dobre nagranie gitar oraz perkusji, również świetne są tu klimatyczne wstawki zagrane na gitarze akustycznej. Jedynym utworem, który zapadł mi w pamięć z tego materiału jest utwór o nazwie – „The Makeshit Conqueror Pt. 2’’ w którym jest naprawdę ciekawe outro tej kompozycji jak i całość tego kawałka ma specyficzny klimat.
Podsumowując, powyższy album nie podszedł mi pod moje gusta muzyczne, ale jak wiadomo każdy ma inne. To, że nie spodobał mi się za bardzo ten album, nie znaczy że zespół gra źle i jest to asłuchalne wydawnictwo, wręcz przeciwnie myślę, że fani takich zespołów jak Children Of Bodom, Kalmah czy Insomnium lubiących nowoczesne brzmienie metalu będą zachwyceni tą płytą, którą serdecznie polecam bo jest na niej kilka naprawdę ciekawych motywów i rozwiązań muzycznych.
